The singing, twisting, folding Ross Sisters

… are doing the rounds of the internets again, apparently in response to this nice bit of light investigative reporting from Sunday columnist for the Detroit News, Neal Rubin.

The Ross Sisters, singing contortionists from West Texas, contributed this performance to a 1944 movie called “Broadway Rhythm.” Then they more or less disappeared.

The earliest upload I can find on YouTube was 2006, but I’m sure I’ve seen it earlier in the Internet timeline than that.

Why Potato Salad? Who knows? Anyway, enjoy.

  1. When this vid did the rounds the last time, I was quite disturbed by the number of people whose response was “hot”.

  2. Yes, I found it fascinating how many people jumped straight to that viewpoint. Sure, they are attractive young women who are obviously in peak physical condition, but the responses of that ilk tend to be more pornhoundish than simple physical appreciation.

  3. See, I felt bad because my immediate response to that serious… bendy… thing… is an inarticulate scream of horror. But then, I’ve seen both versions of The Thing waay too many times.
