Stupid woman ignoring/women erasing universe! Hmph!
Today is Christmas in July for us. TBO and mini TBO (sans beard as she’s ten) and mini FP and I are gonna cook up a storm! Roast chook with bread and pork mince and sage and lemon thyme stuffing, duck fat potatoes with rosemary and garlic, some assorted roast veges, beans baked with anchovies, salad and rhubarb and strawberry crumble or brownies for dessert! Nom nom nom.
Better move, had a rant on my blog (over the stuff Orlando’s pointed out about jjj and the hottest 100 list) and now I’m stuck in place with a sore shoulder!
FP, that nosh sounds fantastic – I hope the day went well! I dragged the family out to the park this afternoon because it Stopped Raining, and we had a wander around the new accessible playground (post and pics upcoming) and up and down a few mounds/hills, then we bought some shoes, and then we bought a new vacuum cleaner (although they had to order it, so won’t have it for another week or two). We met several friendly dogs, including a great lolloping lump of a mastiff-cross who was the sweetest pooch I’ve met in ages, and then the muddiest maltese terrier I have ever seen (it had been following its people on their bikes, obviously through puddles etc).
Nice afternoon.
I’m watching my dad deal with a disturbed bees nest in the neighbour’s garden. It’s exciting, and the neighbour seems to be happily filming it on his phone.
Nice rant FP. I’m glad to see the topic getting talked about in its broader sense, because it’s a really fundamental shift in attitude that’s going to have to happen before we see women and their work being valued properly.
In other news, my baby is now at exactly the jargoning stage of the baby in the video posted a few weeks ago, and it’s a hoot. He’s just reached 18 months, so most littlies would be giving us a few words by now, which he’s not. Not worried, though, because he’s so obviously a communicator by nature. We get long conversations/orations, including gesture, tone changes and pauses for comment, just without any actual words.
I haz just made HaT a prettier login page 🙂
Nice new log in, Tigtog, very suitably Hoydenish.
I’m listening the JJJ’s hottest 100 currently and Massive Attack’s “Teardrop” is playing (at number 22) – first female singing voice I think I’ve heard all afternoon, but I haven’t been glued to the radio or anything. I totally agree with all the discussions here and elsewhere re: erasing/ignoring the voices of women that have taken place. *sigh*
Cheers, Rayedish. I’d originally just added some text to the login to remind people that they couldn’t use a login from a wordpress.com blog on this wordpress.org installation, but I was sick of looking at that text whenever I logged in myself, and customising seemed a better overall solution.
