I have a blogging gig for tor.com next month!! It’s Steampunk Month, and my Racialicious essay is still kicking around, so the editor there decided to ask me to be a guest-blogger. I’m so psyched. I hope I can focus on writing my statement of interest for grad school apps this weekend instead of freaking out over this.

I went to the beach today: Bronte. We saw a tall ship sailing south, perhaps honouring Talk Like a Pirate Day?
Wouldn’t recommend the water yet, it’s only 17C. If only I had a pregnant giantess shaped wetsuit.

We spent the day up at Nelson Bay at the Clans on the Coast celtic festival. I did some more tablet weaving, Adam got the pole-lathe going again and we all got sunburned. The highlight of the day was my 12 year old never-try-anything-new son deciding to have a go at pole-lathe woodturning AND asking me to teach him how to tablet weave. He’s been steadfastly refusing to be interested in any of our crafting activities for over a year now so this was quite a surprise 🙂
