  1. OK, I must know the etymology of “Femmostroppo.” It has been bugging me for months.

  2. Last night my girlfriend from college called me to tell me that she had been raped in her own home. I have been crying now for almost twenty four hours. As she told me her story I found it incredibly triggering and I have been struggling to find a way to help her when my feelings about recovery are not exactly positive. I wrote about it here. If anyone has any ideas I would be really appreciative.

  3. Otter story just swallowed me up for a significant length of time – it’s otterly adorable 🙂
@Renee So sorry, my heart goes out to your friend and you.
I’ve spent my day doing some beading while Adam ripped up and began replacing rotten timbers on our back deck – if you walk out there now there’s a good chance of ending up on the ground one story below.

  4. The news about the Stupak amendment passing in the US House of Reps vote on the healthcare bill is depressing.

“To ensure support, Democratic leaders agreed to a bipartisan amendment, approved 240 to 194, prohibiting a future government-run insurance plan from offering abortion services, and barring anyone receiving federal subsidies from purchasing private plans that cover abortion.”

  5. Renee, I read your comment and your post on Saturday and couldn’t comment on it before now – as Tigtog said, your post is very powerful. I’m so very sorry for your experience, and that of your friend – I hate that we live in a world where this happens, and where I can’t prevent it or fix it when it occurs. You have my empathy, and my commitment to challenge rape culture wherever I see it, and to raise a son who knows inside and out that rape is wrong, out and out. I wish there was something more than that.
    Tigtog – Stupak! Just DEPRESSING!

Not the article, just the way it reads on the site. I wonder if a subbie out there is having a quiet giggle. I hope so.
