Perfect, just perfect

A school and the community around them made a peaceful counter-protest to the Westboro Baptist Church’s demonstration against the school for actively promoting not just tolerance but loving acceptance of people who have attributes outside the narrow lines of what Fred Phelps deems acceptable.

When the Kansas hate group known as the Westboro Baptist Church announced they would picket Bay Area schools and Jewish institutions, students at Gunn High School decided they could not sit by quietly.

They just stood on the side of the road outside their school celebrating themselves with happy posters and songs of acceptance and social justice. The WBC protestors across the street looked mean and sour by comparison.

The students, teachers, parents and community of Gunn High School are Full Of Awesome Sauce and Garnished With Awesome Sprinkles.

  1. That is the most amazing, wonderful, soul-soothing effort I’ve seen in a while. Gunn High School’s peoples are my heroes.

  2. I like the way they got the whole school out; that’s some impressive organisation right there.

  3. That gives me such hope for people, I just can’t tell you.
In the currect US atmosphere of “protest=violence” perpetrated by the teabaggers, it is really amazing that this school and its students can show everyone How It’s Done[tm]. Gives me the warm fuzzies, it does.
