  1. Happy New Year everyone! *hugs and kisses for those that want them*

  2. Yes, Happy New Year to you all. So far I’m the only human awake in this house.
Sprog the Younger and I watched That’s Entertainment (most of it) after the fireworks, because she’d never seen it. It’s a lot of fun to see it with somebody giggling in sheer disbelief at what Florenz Ziegfeld and Busby Berkeley got up to.

  3. Happy new ears!
What are everyone’s exciting plans for the new orbital cycle?
I’ll be turning a ridiculous age, finishing uni and looking for a job. All very terrifying things.

  4. Just discovered this blog. Fab.
And just when I was feeling a major lack of Australian feminist blogs too!

  5. Oh, plus: Happy New Year 🙂
May 2011 bring many wonderful feminist advances!

  6. Welcome to the party, Alien Tea. Our blogroll page has links to lots of other great Aussie blogs written by women, most of whom are probably feminists. We might be missing a few of the newer voices, but we’ve got a fair weight of links there in our Ace Sheilas section.

  7. Happy New Year!
Kim – I’m doing the last two of those as well. I’m trying not to be terrified, but mostly failing.

  8. Kim and Kirstente, I’m rooting for you. Now let me rephrase that…
Here’s a random bit of internet coolness. I just went to reply to this comment on a Shakesville thread about the Naomi Wolf failfest, to recommend Kaz Cooke’s Real Gorgeous, which I bought for my daughter when she turned tweenysomething. Because I’m a bit of a refusenik re. registering for umpteen different comment systems, I found I was unable to comment. So what do I find a few comments after that?

I’m a big fan of ‘Real Gorgeous’ by Kaz Cooke. 🙂

Yes! *punches air*. One for the Australian writers!

  9. @Kirstente If worst comes to worst we can always employ each other. The very, very best of luck to you.

  10. News from the US:

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) — The will Elizabeth Edwards signed days before her death last month made no mention of her estranged husband and two-time two-timing presidential candidate John Edwards.

    There, fixed that for them.

  11. “Two time” should have been struck out but the Strike tags didn’t work. My bad, probably.
Revenge: A dish best eaten cold. And easier if you have money to give or withhold, perhaps.

  12. Fixed it for you by changing your strike tags to del tags. Silly stylesheet dictator, who has preemptively disabled a whole heap of older tags. Tis annoying.

  13. Helen and Kim – Thanks!
The mutual employment thing might work as a cunning way out of the whole needing work experience in order to get work problem. Hmmm.
