Otterday! And Open Thread

Today’s otter comes from a 2008 story in the Orlando Sentinel about a wildlife rehabilitation service rescuing baby river otters. This little one could be raising its own babies in the wild by now.

Please feel free to use this thread to natter about anything your heart desires. Is there anything great happening in your life? Anything you want to get off your chest? Reading a good book (or a bad one)? Anything in the news that you’d like to discuss? What have you created lately? Commiserations, felicitations, temptations, contemplations, speculations?

N.B. We are updating existing threads on the earthquake/tsunami/reactor crisis in Japan and the pan-Arabic pro-democracy uprisings. Disaster recovery and mourning continues in Christchurch, too. If you have news to add to any, please drop a comment.

  1. Posted on my blog some photos I made at Monday night’s Afro Celt Sound System concert at SOH, and was contacted by one of the band’s managers to get copies. Feeling good about that 🙂

  2. ooh, nice job! As we have often discussed, on many occasions you get so much better results when you turn the damn flash off…

  3. Very true. Thankfully these performers were under good spot lighting.
Horses for courses, though. Last week I was the photographer for college graduation (indoors, at night) and I did have to use the external flash to get enough light – manual exposure setting on camera, manual output control on the flash and with a diffuser to prevent red eye and obvious shadows in the background. Tricky, but worth the effort. Wedding photographers have to deal with this all the time – which is why I’ve only ever photographed one wedding, and that a delightful daytime outdoors event 🙂

  4. I just got home from a Kate Ceberano concert. It was very enjoyable 😀

Also, I am going to Perth Upmarket tomorrow! *dances* so should probably be getting some sleep.
