Oh, this piece brings back memories that are far too familiar. I also went out to the cage one afternoon after school to find a carpet snake wrapped around one of my piggies (I was eight at the time). Dad dealt with the snake (by killing it, which I was also really upset over), and mum managed to rescue the guinea pig. It survived – they’re resilient little things. I hope Ponyo is too. *hugs* for you, bluemilk.
