  • Think is not braneing – cooking instead

A coloured painting of a miserable face with a swollen nose and red inflamed nostrils. The nose is clamped shut by a carpentry clamp.

I find my concentration on the computer lapses when I have a head cold. So yesterday I started on some bulk cooking instead, to stock up my freezer with winter yums.

Anyway, it’s been a while since we had a recipe thread. Who’s got something good to share?

  • Media Circus: HILDA Report Refutes Hockey Edition

Photo of Australian Parliament House (APH) in Canberra

    Even the Oz has noticed!

What news story/commentary/analysis has grabbed your attention lately? In particular, what else is being shoved under the national and international media rugs while HILDA dominates the news right now?

We encountered this fine mother and baby kangaroon on our morning walk, along with the rest of their mob enjoying the new grass shoots after the recent rain.

In blue on a white background, the DUFC logo: in a square with rounded corners, there is the female/feminine symbol; with the Southern Cross inside, above which it says 'Down Under' and below 'Feminists Carnival'.

All the details on the latest edition and how to submit to the next one!

  • Vale Doc Neeson

    doc-neeson_angels_no-way

I see an old post of mine about the Angels and their lead singer Doc Neeson and a certain song is getting some traffic over the last few days since his death. Looking at pictures, I can still feel that amazing energy he put into his performance.

  • Quote Of The Day: Think Of All The Supervillains

    loki-supervillain-joy

I love the Bad Chart Thursday posts on Skepchick, which mock various exercises in unjustifed extrapolation from datasets compromised by unacknowledged confounding factors or otherwise lacking rigor. This quote comes from the latest:

  • Quick Hit: Beautiful portraits

    images

Huffpost has an article up on a series of portraits done by Chloe Aftel of agender teens. The photography is stunning and the teens themselves are lovely. Chloe has captured that fragility of teens without stripping them of their determination… Read More ›

  • Signal Boosting: Mass Closure of Women’s Refuges in NSW

    women-refuges-nsw

40 years of women’s rights will be undone in June 2014 when many of Sydney’s specialist women’s refuges are forced to close. Under the NSW Government’s new tenders, women-only services were not allowed to tender for women-only services.
