Today I haz been mostly…

Death By Typography by ~GCORE on Deviantart… playing typography nerd.

It took me a while to figure out that what was bugging me about a particular design’s stylesheet was the mix and match headings in two different fonts.

I don’t mind if people style their fonts for their content paragraphs differently from the font for their sidebar lists (I do that here on Hoyden myself), but when some headings are serif and other headings are sans-serif in a moderately haphazard fashion? That’s. Just. Wrong.

  1. Hooray for Typography Nerds!

Have you seen the documentary on Helvetica?

  3. *Desperately checks fonts on her own blog* Phew. All sans-serif. Recently hunted down and removed random, unnecessary boldness.

Looking through the things I have produced, it seems I am serif-averse. I wonder what Freud would make of that.

This post is further evidence that you are a superior webmistress, Tigtog.

  4. Alison, that’s a good ‘un.
Ariane, I’ve come into typography a bit sideways as I’ve been learning more about best accessibility practises and enhancing visual contrasts. It’s fascinating stuff.
