There were some long involved threads on ozblogs last week about Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Kim at LP, and those of us who agreed with her, got piled upon (twice) for disagreeing with some of Hirsi Ali’s suggestions about how to… Read More ›

• Gigantoraptor: 1400 kg bird-like dinosaur!

  By lauredhel on 2007-06-14 • ( 3 )

It’s not every day paleontologists discover a new dinosaur! These discoveries take me back to the wonder of imagining the dinosaur world when I was a child. We weren’t saturated with the pre-digested smoothly-animated imagery* of Jurassic Park and Walking… Read More ›

Magic Bellybutton has written a terrific post about her experiences dealing with depression and anxiety. A lot of her experiences mirror mine, which is something I haven’t written about on the blog although I’ve thought a lot about doing so,… Read More ›

• Three, four, five, look at him jive

  By lauredhel on 2007-06-12 • ( 2 )

The simplest ideas, eh? A chap, Juergen, got to wondering what his cat, Mr Lee, got up to all day. So he rigged up a collar-cam and sent him off. The result? Strangely enthralling shots of a day in the… Read More ›

  By tigtog on 2007-06-12 • ( 2 )

I saw the trailer for Die Hard 4.0 this evening, while waiting to watch Noise (which was excellent, and more of that anon). The stunts highlighted are delightfully over the top, and Bruce Willis looks older but harder and meaner,… Read More ›
