Blast from the past: Kitties!

A cat looking at a computer screen showing a cat ooking at a computer screen showing a cat ooking at a computer screen showing a cat ooking at a computer screen showing a cat ooking at a computer screen etc etc ad infinitumI was looking for something else on my computer entirely, and came across some attempts of mine in 2004 to take photos of my cats to add to the Infinite Cat Project, showing recursive pictures of cats looking at cats looking at cats etc etc. They just Did. Not. Want. To. Pose., and the photos were blurry and boring, so I didn’t end up sending any pics of them in.

But now I look at that collection of photos and note just how amusing it is to see cats being Passively Uncooperative. Also my really clunky monitor of the time.

Two of the cats here, my lovely ladies tabby Bella and the black and white Poco, are no longer with us. I adopted them as wee kitties in 1990, and I still miss them terribly.

  1. Awww, very lovely cats. It reminds me of the time I tried to take a profile pic with me holding a cat on my web cam. That ended badly.

  2. I tried to start an infinite chook project, but failed miserably. The kids enjoyed it though.

  3. On the weekend I was at my aunt’s up in Newcastle – she’s a mad genealogist and a bit of a cat lady. Anyway, I was rummaging through her library and came upon several folders consisting of old, very old postcards and greeting cards.
Amongst the rest were a series of black-and-white, captioned photographs of cats wearing clothing, and posed in humorous situations. Probably dating back to the 1950s.
I may or may not have used the term ‘LOLcats’ when commenting on them in the presence of my aunt.
