How about a fillum on Tuesday instead of the fillies?

Women looking excited and cheerful while holding protest placards demanding Equal PayI’m thinking seriously of going to see Made in Dagenham while the rest of the nation is stopped by a race. Dendy Opera Quays, I thought – good public transport access to Circular Quay, cheap tix on Tuesdays (although this has only just been released, so maybe not for this film yet), all cinemas wheelchair accessible – it’s even licensed. Sessions at 12.00 or 2.10, Sally Hawkins, Geraldine James, Miranda Richardson – and 60s activism for equal pay for equal work.

Anybody else want to come?

  1. Can’t but let is know how it is. Have heard its very good.

  2. Oooh, it’s very tempting. I’m not sure if I should go, given the amount of work I have to get done in the next month, but then again, Melbourne Cup afternoon doesn’t tend to be all that productive at the best of times. Can I text you on Monday night/Tuesday morning to let you know?

    • Sure thing, Beps. I’m happy to muck about around the Harbour by myself with my camera and my Kindle for a few hours if you can’t make it, so whatever works for you.

  3. Takk takk tusen takk (Thank you thank you a thousand thank yous) for bringing this film to my attention! ^_^
I’m just back from watching it this evening.
I found it to be a brilliant, inspiring, funny, at times heart-in-your-mouth-suspenseful film, with great performances by:
    Sally Hawkins as Rita O’Grady
    Geraldine James as Connie
    Miranda Richardson as Barbara Castle
    Bob Hoskins as Albert Passingham
Richard Schiff (best known as Toby Ziegler from The West Wing) as Robert Tooley ; and Rupert Graves as Peter Hopkins.

    • Oceanesque, I’m so glad you enjoyed it so much.
The downpour was so relentless here yesterday, and I hadn’t had any takers for company, that I just didn’t want to go out, so I cocooned myself at home with I, CLAVDIVS instead. I do still plan to go and see it though.
