First up: “Vote the Bastards Out”, sung a choral flashmob in Melbourne. The composer was Stephen Taberner. Jodes writes on reddit:

Members of several choirs decided to create a choral flash mob across several parts of the city to encourage people to Vote the Bastards out this weekend in the Australian Federal Election.

By the time I saw them perform at 5.30pm, the choir had doubled its size and the audience in the peak hour was about 300-400 people. A great sound for something that was rehearsed twice.

Another version of the song, by Blue Mountains group The Spooky Men’s Chorale, can be found here. (Thanks Bernice.)

[lyrics after the cut]

The lyrics, in case you can’t make them all out [h/t to drol]:

Vote the bastards, vote the bastards, vote the bastards, vote the bastards out

[rpt]

Vote, vote, vote them out, vote them out, vote the bastards, vote the bastards out

[rpt]

Oh Lord, it causes me to wonder

What disease possesses those of us who vote the bastards in?

Please don’t sentence us to three more years

Or we’ll emigrate to French Algiers,

Down on our knees we nightly pray,

Take the lying scumbags away,

Scumbags away.

Vote, vote, vote them out, vote them out, vote the bastards, vote the bastards out

[rpt]

Vote the bastards, vote the bastards, vote the bastards out

[rpt]

Vooooote the bastards, voooooote the bastards, voooooote the bastards
Out.

The second video, Star Wars – The Election Edition, stars Kev as young Skywalker, JHo as Darth Vader, and – well, watch the rest.

[hat tip to Mr Pete.]

Thanks Bernice! I knew I couldn’t have been the only one who stopped laughing and got all tingly about halfway through the song. It’s time.

Oh oh oh oh oh! Both so beautiful in such different ways!

(That choir master is even more of an exhibitionist than most, the shameless show pony)
