It’s been a sad few months for space fans

NASA’s astronaut corps is losing its pioneers.  First Sally Ride died in July, now Neil Armstrong has died as well.

Of course the celebration for the success of the new Mars Rover mission has been a huge boost for astro science and engineering, but it’s not direct human exploration, and that saddens me.  Without humans actually doing the travelling, fewer members of the general public relate to what’s going on, and much needed support for investing in space exploration doesn’t build.
