HuffPo Watch: VPILF.com wank

Y’all know the HuffPo is off my reading list for their UNDERAGE gag (‘gag’ being the operative word), but I followed a link, and what did I find? Twonkwaffle David Weiner enthusing about VPILF.com.

I’m constantly amazed by people’s foresight. Henry Ford bet against all odds that the car would become a ubiquitous part of American life. Steve Jobs correctly predicted the movement of computers from the laboratory to the home. And now comes a comparable act of sheer genius: http://www.VPILF.com.

[…]

But now, thanks to John McCain’s desire to solidify his grip on the white female voting bloc and his fear of taking on another old, white guy, VPILF has officially entered our collective vocabulary. Look for it on t-shirts, on buttons, and probably on a fall episode of How I Met Your Mother. If I were a McCaininite (they exist, right?), I would embrace this wonderful term, and milk it for all it’s worth.

So I must tip my hat to VPILF.com, for the site was set up two months ago — long before Palin was a serious contender for the VP slot, let alone on the national radar. But I wonder, is Hillary hurt that there is no PILF.com?

Weiner, you’re a douchebag.

Melissa and Kate started the Sarah Palin Sexism Watch series at Shakesville yesterday, and it’s already up to #2.

Update: Feministing and Feministe are keeping an eye on this, too. The first comment on Feministing hits the “Can’t you take a joke?” centre-square. Not that I should be surprised after the “raping a primary school aged girl is just fine so long as the girl enjoys it” thing, but … cheez, people. Really?

  1. Feministing’s got one going too. What a mess. I dislike her politics immensely and think she was the wrong choice for a Veep for McCain, but this is bullshit.

  2. The HuffPo has let me down time and time again. I’m with Bene, I really don’t like her politics at all but people need to leave the sexism out of the argument.
And I was blown away at the response I got at Feministing on that article. I thought I might get a few comments like that on my main blog but not at the Feministing community. Just wow!
Angies last blog post..Sarah Palin on Women’s Issues

  3. Can’t believe the comments on the Feministing post about this 12 yr old rape case. Never mind their feminism, some people’s humanity is in its infancy.
